Xbox One Resolution Woes

Microsoft faces yet more negative backlash with the revelation that Call of Duty: Ghosts will render at a native 1080p on the PlayStation 4, but will simply be upscaled to 1080p from a native 720p on the Xbox One. Infinity Ward executive producer Mark Rubin confirmed the resolutions within a Twitter update.

“Hey, been on the road last couple weeks so haven’t had a chance to update, but wanted to confirm that for Xbox One we’re 1080p upscaled from 720p. And, we’re native 1080p on PS4. We optimized each console to hit 60 FPS and the game looks great on both.”

It’s not just Call of Duty, according to the internet rumor mill Battlefield 4 will also run at a higher resolution on the PS4 than on the Xbox One, with videos surfacing on the web portraying the difference in graphics on the two consoles.

Truthfully it’s unlikely that the vast majority of gamers would notice the difference between the games on the different consoles, with the Xbox One working hard with post-processing in order to keep as much detail as possible during the upscaling to the higher resolution. A steady 60 fps frame rate should keep both games running smoothly on both consoles as well, so there’s no need to panic if you have the Xbox One on preorder. Despite it all though, you’ve got to question why Microsoft has struggled to put together a console that can render at a native 1080p.

Does it bother you have the PlayStation 4 will render at a higher native resolution than the Xbox One? Will it put you off Microsoft’s console? Have your say in the comments below.

I honestly don't mind what the graphics are because its all about the gameplay. I mean look at payday the heist. The gameplay was great but the graphics could use a lil work. However, it does raise questions as to whether the XBONE is really that good of a hardware or is its design really complicating the process for devs to develop a native 1080p on this particular console? It doesn't look like they having any graphical problems on the ps4. Makes me still glad to have went for the ps4 rather then the XBONE cuz why pay $100 dollars more if your still getting less?! Food for thought.
