It really blows my mind at just how much of a forgotten franchise Panzer Dragoon is. The last time we got a Panzer Dragoon game was back in 2002-2003, that is 10 years. An interesting thing as well is that the last game in the series was also an Xbox exclusive. Well I say that enough is enough, I want a new Panzer Dragoon on the Xbox One! I think that it could be a killer exclusive title. Today, we are going to go back in time and have a look at the past Panzer Dragoon games. As well, we will think about what a new Panzer Dragoon game could be like on the Xbox One.

The first game in the Panzer Dragoon series was called just that, Panzer Dragoon. It was released on the Sega Saturn in 1995. The game was a ton of fun, it was on rails shooter, but it gave you much more control than what you would normally have on rails shooter. You could look in a 360 motion, so while you can never go off the set path of the game, you could look and shoot all around you. Its the game settings and story that really won many people over. The game looked amazing, and set in a post apocalyptic world that is like a fantasy/science kind of world. The game was one of the best games on the Sega Saturn at the time, and while it sold well, it did not sell as well as Sega had thought it would. But to be fair, many people put this down to the fact that the Sony PlayStation was out selling the Sega Saturn and had nothing to do with the game quality.

Panzer Dragoon: Can It Rise On The Xbox One?Just a year later we got a sequel once again on the Sega Saturn called Panzer Dragoon Zwei (or Panzer Dragoon II). This was a huge upgrade in pretty much every-way that you could imagine. It is a prequel, but it still had all the amazing things that made the first game so much fun to play. Panzer Dragoon Zwei featured much improved graphics over its predecessor and some great game play improvements. The levels now had multiple paths that you could take. So there was great replay value to the game. The world the game was set in, was so much fun, that you wanted to see it all. Also was the Bezerker ability that would let you unleash a devastating attack. If you did well enough on a level your Dragoon could change its form.

Panzer Dragoon Saga is the big daddy of Panzer Dragoon games. One of the biggest crimes in all of gaming is that not enough people have gotten the chance to play this amazing game. This was released in the Sega Saturn’s dying days in 1998. Now, however you will need to drop some serious money to get this game. Panzer Dragoon Saga is no longer on rails shooter. The game is a full on RPG. You could explore the world on both foot and in the air, flying on your Dragoon. The battles were simply phenomenal and just looked amazing. This game really did push the Sega Saturn to its limits. This is one of the best games of that console's generation and its just a shame that the Sega Saturn was so hard to program for. Who knows, maybe one day we will get a part of this on Xbox Live, but I would not hold my breath.

Panzer Dragon Orta was released in 2003 on the original Xbox, and I feel that it is one of the best exclusives on the systems. Panzer Dragoon Orta was a return to the on rails shooter game . Your Dragoon could morph into 3 different forms on the fly, which is really cool and adds a great deal of depth to the game play. One really cool thing is that you could unlock the original Panzer Dragoon game. The graphics in the game where simply gorgeous and they still look amazing to this day. Despite this game being released in 2003, I think you would believe that it is an early Xbox 360 title. Sadly, the game did not sell huge numbers and perhaps this is why, to this date, it has been the last game of the series.

Since the series has had a ten year break, now is the time to bring Panzer Dragoon back and make it a exclusive to the Xbox One. This would be hard as Sega, I am sure would be very reluctant to do this, with the less than great sales of the last Panzer Dragoon game. But what if they could maybe strike a deal with Microsoft to get the game some serious promotion? That is one of the reasons I think the last game did not sell that great, as not a lot of people knew about it. This is a series that has always had breath taking graphics even on the Sega Saturn, so I would love to see what this series could be like in full HD.

So what about you guys? Do you want a new Panzer Dragoon game and do you think it should be a Xbox One exclusive?
